iiTech was founded in 2002 by the Suyker brothers, who invented the S² anastomotic technology. Willem Suyker is a senior cardiothoracic surgeon with over 20 years of clinical experience. Currently, he is chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Isala Clinics in Zwolle, The Netherlands. As a pioneer of off-pump CABG, he kept looking for better ways to treat his patients and recognized the need for automated anastomotic technology. His engineer brother Paul joined him in his quest to realize suitable technical solutions. He reduced novel concepts to practice in his own workshop and nurtured the project to its present status. Currently, he is iiTech’s managing director.
