“ the Steel Suture”

 

The delicate connector is a single piece stainless steel device, comprising eight micro-staples attached to a thin expandable ring. The design has been optimized to minimize intraluminal material. After deployment, the ring keeps the vessel connection widely open in all directions, much like the broadly used diamond shaped hand-sewn anastomoses. The staples are deformed to a circular shape of 0.5mm in diameter, holding the tissue like sutures. The connector accommodates target coronary arteries with inner diameters of 1.75 mm to 2.5 mm.
